1872 H Newfoundland One Cent
Victoria · 12 varieties · study revised Apr. 2nd 2018
This is the second year for which Large Cents were produced for the island's needs, and it was the first year that coins were produced from the Heaton Mint. Each of these coins was minted with a small letter "H" punched into the Reverse dies, just below the knot in the wreath. Also, the output of coins for this year, would carry on the tradition which started in 1865, with the continuous and extensive modifications to the Letters and Numbers in these production dies! The end result would eventually turn out to be an avalanche of varieties which would become the legacy for this Victorian era!
