This is the first of the Edward VII Large Cents to be listed in this series, and others will likely follow. In this particular instance, there are now at least six known varieties for this date, of which two of these are quite interesting and very scarce.

As with the Victoria coinage, the examples found for this year can be divided into three groups, depending on the size of the dates. While this is a useful characteristic, it can be somewhat difficult to make a positive identification for a particular variation, because the differences between these dates, are only minimal at best.
