This George V section has been included in this Edition as a sneak preview of what can be expected in the Subsequent Editions. These will include any Edward VII and George V varieties as well as those not included from the Victoria period. It is just a reminder that these Newfoundland varieties do not end with this current book!

In 1917, the Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa, began to strike its first Newfoundland Coinage. To differentiate between these coins and those produced at the Royal Mint in London, a tiny Mint Mark "C" was punched at the bottom of the Reverse side for each of these coins. It was a very productive period, with nearly one million coins being minted over the next three years, between 1917 to 1919. With such large production numbers, it would only seem reasonable to assume that there would be several different varieties hiding in this sea of sterling silver!
