1873 Newfoundland 10 Cents
Victoria · 2 varieties · study revised Mar. 10th 2015
The 1873 NFLD 10 Cent issue is one of the rarest dates of this entire series. With a mintage of only 20,000 coins, the probability of finding a variety would seem very remote at best. However, as it now appears, there were at least two distinctly different Obverse Dies used for the production of these coins, or the same Die was modified in order to extend its life! In any event, there are now at least two known varieties for this year!
