Widest Date, Low, Uneven "43"
1943 Newfoundland 10 Cents · George VI
The final known variety for this year, illustrates a distinctly Wider date than can be found on any of these other variations. In addition, it can be easily seen by observing the locaton of the "3", that it has been punched very close to the Ornamental Loop, and noticeably farther back from its Front face. Generally, the Mint Mark "C" does not play any really major role in the identification of these varieties, however, in some instances, it can be useful. Here it has been punched very close to the the Oval Bead, making it quite similar to that of the Second Narrow date variety.
Note: On page 111 of Hans Zoell's 1962 Catalog, he makes reference to two varieties for this year: J822a 43 in date close together {TYPE I (a) - Narrow Date, Low, Uneven "43"} J822b 43 in date farther apart {TYPE II (b) - Widest Date, Low, Uneven "43"}
