Narrow Date, Low, Uneven "43"
1943 Newfoundland 10 Cents · George VI
All of the Narrow Date varieties are defined by the positioning of the "3" over the Front Face of the Ornamental Loop. In each instances, it lines up almost evenly with the leading Front edge of the Loop, but the exact location above it, is subtly different among them. With this particular example, and the second Wide Date variety, the "3" is very close to the top of the Loop, but the width of the date makes it fairly easy to distinguish between them. Also, the "4" has been punched slightly Lower in the Date but not to the same extent as the "3". This effectively gives these two characters a somewhat uneven appearance.
