Wide Date, Wide "41", Re-punched "4", Far "C"
1941 Newfoundland One Cent · George VI
The final variety listed in this section, is the only example of a Wide Date which has been identified for this year. It is perhaps the easiest to recognize because of the close proximity of the last "1" to the letter "A", which lies immediately to its right. In this instance, it has been punched noticeably closer to this letter than with any of the other varieties. Also, the numeral "4" displays some modest signs or Re-punching but this effect is minimal at best. The positioning of the Mint Mark "C" is particularly interesting because it is only the second example where it has been punched farther from the "T", than with most of the other variations.
Note: Two of these varieties can also be found on Page 106 of Hans Zoell's 1962 Catalog:
J621a 41 in date close together {TYPE I (a) - ND, Nar. 41}; J621b 41 in date farther
apart {TYPE III - WD, Wide 41}
