Narrow, Re-punched Date, Medium "41", Centre "C"
1941 Newfoundland One Cent · George VI
The final example of these Re-punched Dates, appears to be identical to the TYPE II (c) variety, however, there are a couple of differences which set it apart. The numeral "4" does exhibit some faint signs of having been re-punched but there is no indication that the original digit was ever present within the eye of this character (as it was with this previously mentioned variation). This brings up the question: Was this variety from the same Die that had broken down over time, or was it an entirely different Die? If this was a case of wear, then why didn't the "1", "9" and final "1" deteriorate in a similar fashion? Like the other major Re-punched varieties, the Mint Mark "C", has also been positioned in a Central position between the "T" and the "Dot".
