Wide Date, High "42"
1942 Newfoundland 10 Cents · George VI
The Wide Date varieties are very similar in many respects but there are still a couple of notable differences between them. Perhaps the most important of these is the positioning of the "42" above the Decorative Loop. In this instance, it is slightly higher than it is with the following variety. Also, the Mint Marks for these two Wide Date varieties are located in different positions beneath the raised Oval. In this instance, the “C” has been punched in a central position between the two Tails of the ornament and the Oval.
