Narrow Date, Wide "94", “Die Polishing Lines” (DPL)
1942 Newfoundland 10 Cents · George VI
Like the previous example, this is also a Narrow Date variety but it has some unique characteristics of its own. The first and perhaps the most notable of these is the spacing between the "9" and "4" which in this case is Wider than that of the earlier variety. Also, the Reverse of these coins has been overlaid by a series of irregular Die Polishing Lines which are most noticeable around the date. As mentioned in the last section, there is a very slight and stylistic difference found in the "2's" of these Narrow Date varieties. In this particular instance, the base of this digit is slightly curved with its front end pointing downward towards the face of the Decorative Loop. Finally, the Mint Mark "C" has been punched a little Higher and farther to the Right than it was with the previous example, leaving it very close to the Oval Bead above it.
