Narrow Date, Near "7", Repunched "9"
1947 Newfoundland 5 Cents · George VI
The second of these Narrow Date varieties, initially appears to look exactly like the previous example but there are some minor differences. The "9" seems to have been Repunched with signs of the original digit still visible on the inside of its eye, and also, the Letter "N" has a tiny "Bump" protruding from the Bottom of its Right Leg. These features would suggest that they were intentional alterations to these characters but they also appear somewhat inconclusive because of the unusual nature of these modifications! It is quite possible that they are actually mint "Errors".
