Narrow Date
1940 Newfoundland One Cent · George VI
This first variety has a Narrow Date which only becomes obvious when the positioning of the "40" is observed between the Stem of the flower and the Letter "N" (in "NEWFOUNDLAND"). In this instance, the gap between the Stem and the "4" is Narrower than the "0" is to the "N". This is a defining feature which can be very useful with identification of this particular variation.
