Wide Date, Low "0", Re-Eng. "W", Plain "F"
1880 Newfoundland One Cent · Victoria
This particular sub-variety is in many ways very similar to the previous listing, however, there are some significant differences between them. They both have a Wide Date, with a Low "0", and they also have Re-engraved Letters in the Reverse Inscription. However in this instance, the modified Letters differ between these two examples. Whereas, the first of these variations has a noticeably Re-engraved "F", this variance does not. Throughout this very large family of 1880 varieties, the Letter "W", in "NEWF", has been modified, but usually, these effects are minimal at best. In this case, the original "W" can be easily seen on the outside edge of the Left Side, and on the inside arch of this Letter.
