Coin #1 in Barry's study

The second of the Portrait 2 varieties is a very interesting study because it offers a number of distinct and different qualities which set it apart from all of the others. It is definitely unique! In particular, the letters "E", "T" and "S", (in the word "CENTS") have been extensively Re-engraved and the Numeral "8" has been Repunched. The most notable character of this variety is the Letter "E", which has been so noticeably Altered that it allows for the easy identification of this particular variety, even on the more heavily circulated examples!!
