Coin #1 in Barry's study

The first of these varieties is relatively easy to recognize by its tall, elegant 8's, with their wide open "eyes". Also, it has a distinctively Wide Date which can easily be seen by observing the gap between the last "8" and the Decorative of Beads. All of the Numerals in the date display some signs of having been modified but these effects are subtle in comparison to the next two variations. Only the final Small "8" variety does not illustrate any significant alterations to these digits! In addition, the spaces between each of the "8's" are noticeably Wider than they are on its Narrow Date companion. Finally, it should be noted that both of these Wide Date vareities are relatively easy to locate and are often found in higher grades.
