Wide Date
1880 Newfoundland 20 Cents · Victoria
The first of these two varieties has a Wide Date which can be easily recoginized from the positioning of the two "8's", with respect to each other. In this particular instance, there is a Wider Gap between these two numerals than can be found on the Narrow Date variety. In addition, the second "8" is positioned noticeably farther to the Right of the "N", located directly above it (in "CENTS"). However, the most important and defining difference can be observed in the size of the gap between the "0" and the Ring of Beads to its right. In this case, it is considerably Narrower than that of its companion.
